How To Clean Pesticides And Toxins Off Fruits And Vegetables
How to clean fruits and vegetables with vinegar. Learn how to remove the pesticide residue on produce easily and affordably with this all natural method. Fruits and vegetables from the grocery store are coated with toxic chemicals in the form of larvacides, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides and dozens of other toxins.
Although it is sometimes impossible to remove all pesticides and toxins from produce, as many agricultural practices introduce harmful chemicals directly into the plant, as in the case of potatoes which absorb toxins through the soil that surrounds them, washing the surface of even these types of vegetables will decrease the amount of toxins that are present. Some pesticides are sprayed on the surface of fruits and vegetables and it is possible to remove a large percentage of the agricultural toxins. Many surface pesticides are water insoluble until you change the pH of the water with vinegar and then they can be easily removed by soaking and then washing off.
A general rule for removing as many pesticides and other toxins as possible is:
1. Wash all fruits and vegetables with diluted non antibacterial soap and water and a clean cloth. This may not be possible with delicate fruits such as raspberries. Use your best judgment.
2. If you can peel a fruit or vegetable this will remove all external chemicals as in the case of bananas.
3. If you need to retain the skin as in the case of berries or green beans, etc. then use the technique outlined in this video.
If you follow these steps you will drastically reduce the amount of toxic chemicals that you and your family will be eating.
Organic produce is best, but even organic fruits and vegetables can have small amounts of pesticides on them. Use the method outlined above for them also.
